New Release Allows Continuous Global Deployments for Relevant and Timely Content
SUNNYVALE, Calif., Aug 16, 1999 - Interwoven, Inc., a leading provider of content management software for the enterprise Web, today announced the general availability of OpenDeploy 3.0 software. This release enables content replication and syndication capabilities across distributed networks of production servers. With OpenDeploy 3.0, Web content can be distributed and synchronized in automated, scheduled and transactional deployments. This permits more timely content, lower operating costs and more reliable.
OpenDeploy 3.0 provides businesses with a robust, scalable and secure solution to Web content deployment, no matter how many servers are in place around the world, stated Martin Brauns, CEO of Interwoven. Such secure, frequent, global updates provide site visitors with timely, relevant and accurate content.
Companies can transfer diverse content, including application code and dynamic content, to numerous production servers according to specified parameters using OpenDeploy. System administrators directly control which files and directories are transferred. This leaves work-in-progress or important legacy files untouched and reduces the possibility of accidental publishing. Because content can be published at predetermined times in a transactional manner, site integrity can be maintained.

VF Corporation, the world's largest publicly-held apparel company, manages multiple Web sites including Healthtex (www.healthtex.com), Wrangler (www.wrangler.com) and Jansport (www.jansport.com). VF Corporation uses OpenDeploy 3.0 for the standard transfer of new content from development servers to a Web farm of production servers. In addition, VF maintains a running 7-day backup of their 15 sites by deploying content to a backup server. OpenDeploy allows VF to transfer site updates on a site-by-site basis without affecting the integrity of other VF sites.
With OpenDeploy, content replication goes off without a hitch, said T. Paul Smith, Internet infrastructure engineer for VF Corporation. Our development teams are amazed that we can so easily manage replication of highly sophisticated Web content. Personally, I like OpenDeploy because I'm far more certain of the integrity of our Web content.
VF also maintains all site configuration files centrally with OpenDeploy, reducing the logistical and coordination burden on its Web administrators. The VF Internet infrastructure group requires much less network bandwidth for site replication thanks to OpenDeploys transactional method of data updates.
