ChannelPoint, SmartAge and Myplay join roster of Dotcoms who rely on
Interwoven Web Content Management Solutions
SUNNYVALE, Calif., December 7th, 1999 - Interwoven, Inc. (NASDAQ:
IWOV), a leading provider of content management software for the enterprise
Web, announced today that three companies have joined the rapidly growing
roster of "Dotcoms" making Interwoven their content management solution
of choice. ChannelPoint, SmartAge.com and myplay, inc., the latest online
businesses to realize the critical nature of content management, have
chosen Interwoven TeamSite software to build and manage all content that
is integral to the success of customer relations, marketing and eCommerce
initiatives.
"While Dotcoms have different business models, they all share an intense
pressure to launch quickly, grow rapidly and innovate continuously," said
Joe Ruck, vice president of marketing for Interwoven. "TeamSite enables
Dotcoms to build and maintain their first mover advantages by combining
rapid development and approval while assuring quality and tight brand
control."
The quality of online content and responsiveness to customers is especially
critical for Dotcoms. Quality and responsiveness to customers comes by
getting the right people to create and approve online content at the right
time. ChannelPoint, Inc.( www.channelpoint.com )
understands these requirements first-hand. ChannelPoint provides technology
to build business-to-business Internet exchanges and acts as an eCommerce
and knowledge management broker for the insurance industry, requiring
the continuous, direct and accurate exchange of content.
ChannelPoint's Content Factory operation is an assembly line that allows
ChannelPoint customers (carriers, brokers and affiliates) to collaborate
with the Content Factory staff on the production of content. TeamSite
is the key component enabling ChannelPoint to:
- Empower internal and external contributors to securely submit, edit,
approve and publish content
- Assure appropriate messaging through a configurable workflow mapped
to existing approval processes of individual customers
- Provide quality assurance (QA) for all kinds of content, from basic
HTML to complicated Java-based application code
"TeamSite serves as the backbone of our site," said Tim Hayes, vice
president of the ChannelPoint's Content Factory. "The flexible workflow
support for multi-stage approvals was very important to us. It allows
post-QA publishing to the customer's staging area for review before getting
pushed to production. A serial Web publishing workflow would not have
allowed us to tailor our online services and products to the needs of
our customers." "
Dotcoms facing rapid growth - potentially expanding from hundreds to
millions of customers in just a few months - demand the flexibility to
incorporate new technology to support their expanded business. SmartAge
( www.smartage.com ) helps small and
growing businesses find customers and make money on the Web by offering
its community of small businesses twenty services including SmartClicks,
a free banner advertising exchange program. TeamSite's standards-based,
open architecture provides SmartAge.com:
- Rapid integration with its existing technology base, such as Inference
k-Commerce, an eCommerce application server
- The ability to leverage authoring tools of choice, including HomeSite
and FrontPage
- Future integration with International tools, technologies and processes
"We needed a content management solution to meet our needs today, as
well as our needs in the future, as we grow and expand internationally,"
said Jim Freeman, CTO and vice president for SmartAge.com. "Innovation
is the key to success in this business. TeamSite's open architecture will
allow us to easily integrate with existing and future technologies without
delay."
The first online businesses in any new market are often the ones best
positioned to gain mindshare, putting Dotcoms under enormous pressure
to get up and running as soon as possible. Myplay inc. ( www.myplay.com )
is a new online music service that lets members store, organize and play
music with a "virtual locker." TeamSite allowed myplay to exceed its internal
objective and launch the site within 100 days through:
- Empowering of both technical and non-technical contributors
- Merging and testing of both application code and static content
- Versioning and rollback to catch errors quickly and restart development
immediately
"TeamSite was instrumental in cutting the development time for our business,"
said Richard Ault, vice president of product marketing for myplay. "It
helped us rapidly deliver on a promise to create a relationship marketing
business focused on digital music. TeamSite will help us continually evolve
our site and keep us well ahead of the competition."
