Interwoven Extends its Relationship with Lance Armstrong, Two Time Tour de France Winner, a Role Model for Perseverance, Excellence and the Importance of a Balanced Lifestyle

Sunnyvale, Calif. - December 6, 2000 - Interwoven, Inc. (Nasdaq: IWOV), the leading provider of enterprise-class content management solutions, today announced that Lance Armstrong, Tour de France winner and Olympian, and the United States Postal Service Cycle Team will be sponsored by Interwoven, the fastest growing public software company in Silicon Valley. Interwoven joins a select group of Armstrong and USPS pro cycling team sponsors including the US Postal Service and Nike, who are also both Interwoven customers.

"It is a natural fit that both the USPS Team and I be sponsored by a software leader that is both focused on staying ahead of its competition as well as encouraging a healthy lifestyle for its employees," said Armstrong. "Interwoven's great management team has made an effort to make both team performance and individual achievement part of the Interwoven culture."

Interwoven and Armstrong first worked together at Interwoven's overwhelmingly successful GearUp 2000 content management conference held in San Francisco, CA October 2-3, 2000 with over 1,000 participants. Armstrong was a keynote speaker discussing his successful battle with cancer and winning the Tour de France.

Armstrong was diagnosed with advanced testicular cancer in October of 1996. Prior to his diagnosis, he was ranked as the number one cyclist in the world. After taking time off to recover, in 1998 he officially returned to cycling and won the 1999 and 2000 Tour de France. Armstrong is also the founder of The Lance Armstrong Foundation, a non-profit organization geared at helping people manage and survive cancer.

As part of Interwoven's relationship with Armstrong, Interwoven has also donated significant funds to the Lance Armstrong Foundation. Armstrong was chosen to speak at the conference because he exemplifies the attitude of Interwoven's culture, which while hard-charging also encourages employees to take time for themselves and excel on a personal as well as professional level.

"Lance has provided an inspirational role model for many of us at Interwoven," said Martin Brauns, president and CEO of Interwoven. "Like Interwoven, Lance and the team's success comes from the culmination of hard work, dedication and a winning strategy. We are extremely excited about the sponsorships."

Armstrong lives part-time in Austin, Texas which is also the headquarters of Interwoven's fast-growing wireless business unit. Interwoven is actively recruiting in Austin, including on campus recruiting at the University of Texas on February 6th, 2001.
