Content Infrastructure Balances Decentralized Content Contribution with Centralized Content Control
SUNNYVALE, Calif. - June 06, 2001 - Interwoven, Inc. (Nasdaq: IWOV), the leading provider of Content Infrastructure, today announced that financial services leaders are moving to Interwoven Content Infrastructure to provide their customers with online access to time-critical financial information.
According to Meta Group Research, "by 2002, 50% of online consumers will utilize the Internet in their research and selection of financial services; most of those consumers will also perform financial transactions over the Internet, including purchasing financial products (e.g., insurance, CDs, loans), receiving and paying bills, and stock trading. Financial institutions that have established their Web site as a 'touchpoint' (i.e., a 'must visit' site) for their consumers will be able to participate in and help guide selection of financial products."
Interwoven's financial services customers include ABN AMRO, AEGON, AG Edwards, AMP, AXA Global, Banca Nazionale del Lavoro, Berger Holdings, Britannia Building Society, Correspondent Network, Credit Suisse First Boston, Den Norske Bank, Deutsche Bank, Development Bank of Singapore, Epoch Partners, Fannie Mae, Fortis, Frank Russell Company, Henderson Global, HFC Bank, HSBC Bank, Legg Mason, MassMutual Financial Group, MFS Investment Management, Minnesota Mutual, Oppenheimer Funds, Orbian, Overseas Chinese Banking Corp., Pershing, Pioneer Investment Management, Inc., The Principal Financial Group, SEI Investments, Standard Chartered Bank, US Bank, Washington Mutual, Wilmington Trust, Zurich Financial Services, and many others.
Components of Content Infrastructure, which are particularly relevant to the financial service sector, include content management and content distribution.
A critical aspect of moving financial services to the Web is the inclusion of subject-matter experts from marketing and sales, so that they may contribute content directly to the Web.
"Pioneer Investment Management has broken through the traditional 'Webmaster bottleneck' by rolling out direct ownership of portions of the site, or 'Web real estate,' via templated content delivery," said Iang Jeon, managing director of Pioneer's eCommerce group. "Having integrated Interwoven as part of our eCommerce platform, we can deliver effective and powerful user interactions through content customization, targeted e-mail and messaging, and our Financial CyberGuidesSM - computer-generated 'robots' that use natural language interpretation to answer questions about investing."
Another example is Frank Russell Company, which has revamped its Web publishing process based on Interwoven Content Infrastructure. "It was critical for us to extend content contribution throughout the organization, and we have done so with TeamSite Templating," said John Stingl, manager of the Web Services Team at Russell. "It was equally critical for us to maintain central control, which includes keeping track of all versions of our content and using workflow to ensure that all site content is approved and quality checked by the right people prior to publishing."
Another key component of Content Infrastructure, content distribution, controls the delivery of content across multiple servers, devices, and customer touchpoints - automatically and without loss of operational control.
"Content Infrastructure is crucial to the online business of the Principal Financial Group," said Lori Oatts, senior project manager at The Principal. "With Interwoven TeamSite software and OpenDeploy, we are confident that we have a reliable process for publishing critical information to our Web site. OpenDeploy ensures that we can manage frequent deployments without loss of control."
In April, Interwoven announced its new Content Infrastructure product suite, which includes products for content aggregation, content collaboration, content management, content intelligence, and content distribution.
