Interwoven Pioneers Intelligent Content Distribution
Sunnyvale, CA. - June 12, 2001 - Interwoven, Inc. (Nasdaq: IWOV), the leading provider of Content Infrastructure, today announced the release of Interwoven OpenSyndicate, the latest addition to its content distribution product suite. For the first time business managers can take direct control of the distribution of content to a network of subscribers inside or beyond the four walls of the enterprise.
Key product attributes include:
· Content Packages - Controlled assembly of Web assets based on intelligent business rules
· Targeted Delivery - Audience profiling for precise targeting, irrespective of format
· Secure Distribution - Guaranteed content delivery with a comprehensive audit trail
"Real content syndication for the global enterprise must be advanced replication including security, profile-based targeting and the controlled packaging of content," said Robert Perry, senior analyst at the Yankee Group. "The addition of Interwoven OpenSyndicate to Interwoven's Content Infrastructure demonstrates that Interwoven has a clear strategy to address this large, green field market."
With metadata-driven business rules, business managers control the assembly of content packages comprised of sets of individual components segmented for audience preference.
With easy-to-use subscriber management and group-profiling, non-technical contributors match content packages with target constituencies, whether its XML, PDF, WAP or any other output format.
Guaranteed delivery and asset tracking is essential for distributing content across enterprise boundaries. This breakthrough functionality enables the enterprise to begin using the Web to leverage intellectual capital across its extended enterprise.
"Syndication offers Russell the opportunity to expand its business scope in a new direction. A business model that includes syndication can strengthen name recognition, and support Russell's position in the growing knowledge capital market," said John Stingl, manager of the Web Services Team for the Frank Russell Company. "With Interwoven OpenSyndicate, Russell has already begun to lay the groundwork for syndication by using metadata-controlled delivery and by giving business managers control of content targeting, we will both increase the consistency and the relevance of content."
OpenSyndicate supports the two primary models for syndication required by global enterprises:
· Standard Syndication - delivery based on open-standards distribution protocols
· Email-Based Syndication - delivery based on an email-based subscriber model
In both cases, business managers are able to make decisions about when, how, and in what format content is syndicated.
"For our customers, flexibility and scalability in distribution is a must," said Kevin Cochrane, vice president of product management for Interwoven. "In order to make this a reality, we built comprehensive distribution functionality throughout our product lines to componentize any content using TeamXML, transform that content for any channel with OpenChannel software and distribute to any touchpoint with Interwoven OpenSyndicate. It is this combination of attributes that allows enterprises to leverage the full diversity of their Web assets across a multiplicity of Web properties."
Interwoven OpenSyndicate software works in conjunction with Interwoven TeamSite software and TeamXML software, also announced today. TeamXML is an XML repository that allows content to be created and stored as a collection of component objects that can be re-used for multiple initiatives.
