Content Infrastructure to Underpin Joint Solution for the Delivery of Timely, Personalized Content Across Multiple Portal Initiatives

San Francisco, CA and Sunnyvale, CA, - June 26, 2001 - Epicentric, Inc., the leading provider of next generation portal solutions, and Interwoven, Inc. (Nasdaq: IWOV), the leading provider of Content Infrastructure, today announced an alliance and plans to integrate the Epicentric portal platform with Interwoven's Content Infrastructure product suite. The integration will give joint customers access to critical Content Infrastructure functionality from within the Epicentric portal platform, enabling the delivery of timely personalized content across multiple portal initiatives.

"By combining the power of the Epicentric platform with Interwoven's Content Infrastructure, content can now be managed and distributed for a highly personalized view to all business constituents across intranets, extranets and the Internet," said Ed Anuff, Co-Founder and Chief Strategy Officer at Epicentric. "Responding to the customer requirement for open architectures, both Epicentric and Interwoven are using standards-based Web services protocols including XML, SOAP and WSUI to offer a rich product integration and a world-class customer solution."

The Interwoven PortalReady SDK (software development kit), announced today, will provide an uncomplicated development interface to facilitate a seamless integration with Epicentric's portal solution, yielding faster time-to-portal. As an Interwoven PortalReady Early Adopter, Epicentric is working closely with Interwoven's product engineering team to develop and release the Content Infrastructure integration solution later this year.

"Content, the backbone to successful eBusiness initiatives, exists in many forms throughout organizations, including unstructured text, graphics, images and rich-media. Without proper content management, it is difficult to access the relevant information in the appropriate context," said Mike Maziarka, a director at the leading market analyst firm CAP Ventures. "By integrating Content Infrastructure through a portal network, businesses can achieve a competitive edge, by streamlining information which is contextually relevant to their business users."

"Epicentric has demonstrated its ability to provide customers with an enterprise-wide portal platform solution for building and delivering Web services across diverse business communities," said Tom Steding, vice president of Interwoven's Portal business unit. "We are very pleased that Epicentric has chosen to leverage the power of Content Infrastructure to provide joint customers with a true enterprise portal solution."
