Sunnyvale, Calif. - June 26, 2001 - Interwoven, Inc. (Nasdaq: IWOV), the leading provider of Content Infrastructure software, today unveiled PortalReady, its comprehensive portal partner program, which already has the support of leading portal players ATG, BEA, Bowstreet, DataChannel, Epicentric, IBM, iPlanet, PeopleSoft, Plumtree, Sybase, and TIBCO.

Interwoven Content Infrastructure addresses the most pressing pain points facing portals today:

- Targeted delivery of timely, relevant content

- Extending content contribution without loss of control

- Built-in investment protection with an open, best-of-breed architecture

"With portals destined to become the desktop of the Web in enterprise environments, the portal market is entering a phase of explosive growth and the need to provide content for those portals is a real issue," said Andrew Warzecha, senior vice president at META Group. "We see many of our G2000 clients integrating content management, portals, and collaborative technologies to meet their real world demands. Indeed, organizations must begin treating this technology mix as strategic infrastructure and justify it accordingly. Vendors, like Interwoven, that can help users shorten these efforts will be addressing a key demand of the market."

Enterprise portals are challenged with providing timely and relevant content to serve multiple segmented audiences. Content Infrastructure includes intelligence to classify all Web assets with controlled vocabularies to ensure targeted content delivery. Also, Content Infrastructure allows enterprises to reuse existing assets across Web initiatives other than portals, thereby creating greater efficiency by harnessing underutilized assets.

Companies struggle with mobilizing their workforce on the Web. Content Infrastructure allows users "single-click" content contribution through a range of interfaces designed specifically to meet the needs of a diverse contributor base. These include an easy-to-use email interface, the portal user interface and XML templating-based forms. At the same time, with built-in versioning and workflow, the process of capture, approval, routing and deployment of portal content remains tightly controlled.

Investment Protection Through Open, Best-of-Breed Architecture

Content Infrastructure is based on an open, best-of-breed architecture that provides exceptional flexibility to customers. By partnering with all leading eBusiness vendors, Interwoven is giving customers the flexibility to choose vendor solutions best suited to their business needs and to leverage their infrastructure investment across all of their eBusiness initiatives.

Five "early adopter" portal vendors are announcing the integration of their portal infrastructure in parallel with the development of the Interwoven PortalReady SDK. Epicentric, IBM, iPlanet E-Commerce Solutions, Plumtree, and TIBCO will each be shipping portal products integrated with Interwoven's Content Infrastructure products in Q3. (See separate announcements on Epicentric , iPlanet , Plumtree , and TIBCO and Interwoven's new PortalReady SDK ).

Art Technology Group (ATG), BEA Systems, Bowstreet, DataChannel, PeopleSoft, and Sybase have also indicated their intent to integrate their portal product lines with Interwoven Content Infrastructure through its PortalReady SDK ( Please see quote sheet ).

"A successful portal initiative must address the total content life-cycle from creation, through collaboration to effective, personalized deployment," said Michael DeBellis, eBusiness CTO for Deloitte Consulting. "Through its bold strategy, leading partners and open technology, we believe Interwoven has positioned itself to be a dominant player in providing complete solutions in the portal space. The open architecture of Interwoven's Content Infrastructure facilitates working with all of our leading portal vendor partners including Plumtree, Epicentric and DataChannel."
