Content Infrastructure Vital for Successful Enterprise Portals
Sunnyvale, CA - June 27, 2001 - Sybase (NYSE: SY) a leading provider of eBusiness Enterprise Software and Interwoven, Inc. (Nasdaq: IWOV) the leading provider of Content Infrastructure, today announced plans to integrate the Sybase Enterprise Portal and Interwoven's Content Infrastructure product suite. This integration will give joint customers direct access to Content Infrastructure through the portal interface and will significantly decrease time-to-portal, future-proof the framework and allow for enterprise scalability.
"Seamless interoperability with Interwoven's leading Content Infrastructure product suite will enhance the value of the Sybase Enterprise Portal by making it easy for thousands of non-technical users to contribute content to the portal," said Billy Ho, Sybase vice president for products and solutions. "Portal users who create and contribute content will benefit from Interwoven's standards-based, open-architecture because they can leverage all their existing creation tools and integrate all content types."
The Sybase Enterprise Portal offers a flexible, scalable, eBusiness framework to effectively support high-end eCommerce activities, including ERP and B2B integration, process workflow management, content integration, and XML data interchange. Combined with Interwoven's Content Infrastructure product suite that includes content aggregation, collaboration, management, intelligence and distribution, the joint solution will enable all content contributors to easily add content to the enterprise portal without loss of control.
Sybase also plans to use Interwoven's Content Infrastructure product suite for its own enterprise portal. "Interwoven PortalReady SDK will provide access to the Content Infrastructure functionality we are looking for in order to ensure our knowledge management portal is populated with timely and relevant content. After all, outdated content is effectively worse than no content," said David Sze, director, specialty practices for Sybase.
"Sybase has demonstrated its leadership in enterprise infrastructure products," said Tom Steding, vice president of Interwoven's portal business unit. "The combination of Sybase Enterprise Portal and Content Infrastructure provides a standards-based, extensible, eBusiness framework for all enterprise portal customers."
In addition to Sybase joining Interwoven's PortalReady partner program, Interwoven has also joined the Sybase e-Portal Alliance.
