Intensive Tuning at Intel Solution Center Yields 70% Increase in Performance for TeamSite Version 5.5 with 2000 Users
PALM SPRINGS, Calif., - GearUp 2001 Conference - October 10, 2001 - Interwoven, Inc. (Nasdaq: IWOV), the leading provider of Content Infrastructure, today announced the results of a significant benchmark test at an Intel testing center. In addition to proving significantly lower total cost of ownership compared to the competition, Interwoven TeamSite 5.5 software demonstrated enterprise-class scalability on the Windows 2000 8-way Intel Pentium III Xeon processor-based server supporting 2000 users. Interwoven TeamSite is Content Infrastructure software for managing diverse Web assets, including database and file system content, application code and XML.
For the Global 2000, a comparable content management system supporting the same number of concurrent users can cost in excess of $500 per user, as outlined in a previous competitive benchmark issued in the fall of 2000. With this study, based on an enterprise-scale implementation, Interwoven has lowered the rate to just $50 per user on price/performance of its market-leading Content Infrastructure offerings, making Interwoven's offering the most cost-effective system on the market today. Now enterprises can effectively mobilize their entire workforce on the Web, with the assurance that Interwoven's products can easily scale to meet their needs, and at a price they can afford.
TeamSite 5.5 improvements include:
- Average size of Interwoven TeamSite repository is reduced by 50%
- Average transaction response time is improved by 70%
- Certain business-critical operations perform 10 times faster
"The success of Interwoven's testing program at the Intel Solution Center in California is an excellent illustration of the value that is provided to both software vendors and customers using this center," said Rhett Livengood, director, Americas Region, Intel Solution Services. "The ability to tune a software solution in this manner maximizes performance, bringing greater cost-efficiency to eBusinesses."
Intel Solution Centers, located throughout the world, enable server software developers to make optimal use of the Intel architecture by tapping the expertise of dedicated engineers and utilizing popular Intel performance-enhancement tools such as VTune 5.0.
"Our customers' content needs are exploding in terms of both numbers of assets and content contributors," says Alex Choy, vice president of server technology at Interwoven. "As a result of customer input, we continue to focus on proving the significant scalability of TeamSite. Working with Intel at their Application Solution Center enabled us to leverage the Intel architecture and demonstrate our superior product design on the Microsoft Windows platform, delivering a level of price/performance our competitors cannot match."
"Scalability and lower cost of ownership are key factors as enterprises choose a content infrastructure to build out their Web initiatives," said Rob Perry, analyst at the Yankee Group. "The results of this benchmark demonstrate Interwoven's commitment to offering a cost-effective content management solution and its focus on meeting the increasingly distributed content management needs of the Global 2000."
TeamSite 5.5 will be available at the beginning of November. For more information, please see http://www.interwoven.com.tw/products/teamsite.
