Advanced Object Architecture Supports Scalability Requirements Unique to Enterprise Portals and Intranets
PALM SPRINGS, Calif. - GearUp 2001 Conference - October 10, 2001- Interwoven, Inc. (Nasdaq: IWOV), the leading provider of Content Infrastructure, today announced the release of TeamSite 5.5 software. TeamSite 5.5 offers an optimized server architecture, which enables several thousand users to contribute content simultaneously relying on an advanced object architecture which speeds development of Web assets dramatically.
"Many enterprises are looking for a content management product that will enable the most effective use of their employee's time and improves employee's productivity by providing a collaborative environment for content creation," said Karen Shegda, research director, Gartner, Inc. "Labor reduction and increased site flexibility are two of the main forces behind the high rate of Web content management adoption we've seen."
Performance and Scalability for Wider Access with Lower Cost
The advanced repository boosts performance by 70% for systems with 2000 concurrent users. This performance breakthrough slashes per user hardware cost by a factor of 10 compared to document-centric content management systems or narrow ePublishing applications.
MultiStore Capability for Scaling Enterprise Content Repositories
MultiStore lets an enterprise collaborate, process and deploy content while leveraging a centrally-managed server architecture. MultiStore improves storage management, speeds backup and increases server availability by up to eight times.
With Interwoven MultiStore, repositories can scale across disparate storage devices, such as network attached storage (NAS). Administrators now benefit from increased storage capacity and can schedule different backup times for each storage device and purge data as frequently as needed.
Internationalization for Local Content Contribution
Through internationalization of TeamSite, contributors in France, Germany and Japan have the ability to use localized operating systems so they can work in their respective languages. For example, a user in Japan can now create filenames, branches, work areas, editions and directories in Japanese using the GUI, CLT's (command line tools) or OpenAPI. The same user can then edit a file and fill out the submit form in Japanese.
Internationalization supports the publishing, storage and management of multibyte content including support for multibyte assets including names and directory locations.
"The market place is insisting on a scalable content infrastructure for multiple Web initiatives including portals and intranets," said Kevin Cochrane, vice president of product management at Interwoven. "Interwoven TeamSite 5.5, with its flexible architecture and unique scalability, meets the critical business requirements of today's global enterprises."
TeamSite 5.5 will be available at the beginning of November. For more information, please see http://www.interwoven.com.tw/products/teamsite.
