SUNNYVALE, Calif. -November 14, 2001 - Interwoven, Inc. (Nasdaq: IWOV), the leading provider of Content Infrastructure, today announced that Michigan's Oakland County portal has gone live with Interwoven's Content Infrastructure. The new portal, built on IBM's WebSphere Portal Server, will enable Oakland County residents to access more than 60 county offices including the county Clerk/Registrars/Elections Office, County Commissioner, County Courts, Health Department and Information Technology. The portal is a commitment by Oakland County executive L. Brooks Patterson to create innovation in eGovernment.
"Interwoven's Content Infrastructure is making it possible for Oakland County residents to go to a single Website and find all the information they need," said Phil Bertolini, director IT for Oakland County. "As a result of the content creators taking ownership of continuous Website upgrades, site visitors can now go to http://www.co.oakland.mi.us and find content that is fresh and not static."
After using a homegrown system for more than six years, Oakland County realized the need to have a complete solution that would easily grow with their portal needs. Oakland County selected the Content Infrastructure product suite, specifically Interwoven's flagship product TeamSite software, because it provides an overall content infrastructure for the portal, allowing dozens of employees to easily publish and update graphics, file and database content to the Web. "Oakland County residents need access to the most current information about their county," said Jim Taylor, chief, technical services for Oakland County. "By implementing Interwoven's Content Infrastructure, we simplified the content creation and management process, thereby significantly shortening the time and greatly reducing the effort it takes to create and deliver the most current county information."
The county chose Interwoven because its XML-based templating allows the Web team to create a consistent look and feel no matter where the visitor is on the site. With the new, consistent user interface created with TeamSite Templating, a uniform look and feel is established across all 60 agency sites.
"Oakland County is at the leading edge of government portals," said Joe Ruck, senior vice president of marketing at Interwoven. "Interwoven's Content Infrastructure allows all county employees to take ownership of Web content without a steep learning curve. As a result, content quality and timeliness is enhanced and with Interwoven's templating functionality a standard look and feel is guaranteed."
