FOSTER CITY, Calif. and SUNNYVALE, Calif., Dec. 12, 2001 -- Inktomi Corp. (NASDAQ: INKT), developer of scalable network
infrastructure software, and Interwoven, Inc. (NASDAQ: IWOV), the leading provider of Content Infrastructure, today announced
an agreement to deliver a combined solution that will offer enterprise customers, employees and partners an enhanced search
experience by providing timely access to the most current and accurate corporate content. The Inktomi-Interwoven alliance will
enable Inktomi Enterprise Search to immediately index documents managed by Interwoven TeamSite and MetaTagger, allowing enterprises to streamline the process of publishing, managing and retrieving enterprise content on corporate intranets, extranets, portals and Web sites for effective information retrieval and increased business efficiency.
"To best serve our 13 million customers worldwide, it is critical that we make new information regarding our financial
services immediately available to employees and customers in an organized, easy to locate format," said Lori Oatts, senior
project manager, the Principal Financial Group. "The Inktomi-Interwoven alliance will allow us to provide fast access to
the latest information on our public and internal sites for increased employee productivity and customer satisfaction."
The Inktomi-Interwoven alliance will more closely link the content creation and discovery process by enabling Inktomi Enterprise
Search to automatically index documents managed by Interwoven's content management software. Through this integration, the search
engine will instantly crawl new documents as soon as they are published, allowing enterprises to maintain a more current index and
ensure that users have immediate access to new corporate information. Through this alliance, Inktomi Enterprise Search will also
utilize the metadata created and captured by Interwoven TeamSite and MetaTagger solutions to more accurately identify the contents
of the documents for improved search relevancy.
"The Interwoven-Inktomi integration allows newly published editions of TeamSite content to be automatically included in an
Inktomi search," said Kevin Cochrane, vice president, Product Management at Interwoven. "This integration will also allow
TeamSite and MetaTagger customers to leverage the intelligence of the metadata attached to content of all file types for more
accurate, relevant and meaningful search results."
"Our alliance with Interwoven augments the enterprise information lifecycle by more closely integrating the creation
and retrieval of content, improving the ability to find and ultimately apply mission-critical corporate information,"
said Troy Toman, vice president of Enterprise Solutions at Inktomi. "We are pleased to partner with a proven leader in
content infrastructure and look forward to working closely with Interwoven to continue to deliver effective corporate-wide
search to global enterprises."
