Interwoven ECM to Provide Open, Enterprise-wide Integration of All Content, Streamlining and Simplifying Business Processes
SUNNYVALE, Calif. - August 5, 2002 - Interwoven, Inc. (Nasdaq: IWOV), the leader in Enterprise Content Management (ECM), today announced that BP's LPG business, one of the largest providers of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) in Europe, has selected the Interwoven 5 platform for multiple ECM-based initiatives. The Interwoven solution will allow BP LPG to harness the combined expertise of its business users across Europe in order to develop, deploy, and control accurate enterprise content in eight European languages. The Interwoven ECM implementation will enable BP LPG to deliver a unified, cost-effective online service to its customers across Europe, and at the same time retain local control of marketing offers.
BP LPG required an enterprise content management solution that would provide best-in-class content management functionality, as well as enable the management of multiple sites from various European locations. In addition, it was critical to have an ECM solution that would allow the tight integration of its various Web application tiers, such as its existing Apache, WebLogic, and Oracle systems.
"The BP LPG sites are built on a powerful J2EE platform, but were lacking the content management features that give business users the level of control they need," said David Peralta, project manager, BP LPG. "With Interwoven, we have been able to migrate all of our content into Interwoven's flagship product, TeamSite. For the first time, this has provided us with the ability to manage all of BP LPG online customer offers in an integrated way. Interwoven's quality content management and workflow tools are a core part of the platform which enables us to streamline and simplify our business process, enabling us to share best practice and success stories."
The next stage of the project will involve the deployment of Interwoven software to a pan-European intranet. This is expected to increase the number of non-technical contributors to between 500 and 1,000 end users contributing or approving content enterprise-wide.
"There are a number of critical challenges facing all companies today, such as how to maintain their brand integrity, enhancing customer retention and growth, as well as making the most out of their technology investments," said Bob McNinch, vice president, northern Europe. "The Interwoven platform will provide BP LPG with a more efficient internal process allowing them greater control over content across all of their operations. This will have a direct and positive impact on their self-service program, delivering increased cost savings and improved organizational efficiency."
The integration between Interwoven TeamSite software and BEA Systems' WebLogic is expected to deliver further cost-savings by reducing both support and licensing costs of the development environments.
The Interwoven 5 Platform is the most complete solution for ECM on the market today and is the choice of seven out of the top ten largest corporations. Interwoven products manage all enterprise assets, such as documents, XML/HTML, rich media, application code, and operational data; all contributors, from the business user to the developer; all processes from discovery and creation to packaging and distribution; and across all applications, such as CRM, portals and document management, with solutions that scale from a few users to the entire global enterprise.
