TeamSite 5.5, the Fastest Adopted Software in Interwoven History, Delivers Usability Features that Streamline Contribution and Approval while Minimizing Training and Support

SUNNYVALE, Calif. - October 9, 2002 - Interwoven, Inc. (Nasdaq: IWOV), a world leader in Enterprise Content Management (ECM), raises the bar on content management usability. Interwoven TeamSite 5.5 software, the fastest adopted Interwoven product in history, includes a new Business Productivity Suite that extends usability to the entire spectrum of business users from individual contributors to managers.

"It is crystal clear that the rapid adoption of Version 5.5 is tied closely to its break-through usability," said Kevin Cochrane, vice president of product management and business development for Interwoven. "The intuitive Business Productivity Suite provides all the rich ECM functionality needed through simple, easy-to-use interfaces that extend but don't try and replace user's familiar desktop environment."

Business Productivity Suite - Extending Usability
- VisualAnnotate - Streamlined Approval: VisualAnnotate enables business managers to dramatically streamline the Web review and approval process. It includes user-friendly tools such as free-floating sticky notes, approval stamps and an annotation pen. It also captures and stores annotations with the content - archiving a complete history.

- VisualPublish - "Surf and Edit": VisualPublish is the next evolution of in-context editing. Business users can ensure content quality and integrity by surfing, editing and assigning tasks transparently without leaving their browser window.

- Front-Office - Fast and Easy Document Publishing: With the new TeamSite Front-Office Briefcase, users can access all core content management functions -- such as check-in, check-out, version history, change properties/metadata - on any file that resides on the desktop, by simply right clicking on the mouse. They can also access TeamSite directly from their Microsoft Office 2000 environment.

- Internationalized UI - Inclusive Global Contribution: TeamSite 5.5 is available in French, German, Japanese, Simplified Chinese, and Korean. By allowing contributors and administrators to work with content and interfaces in their native language, the new UI minimizes the cost associated with local content development and reduces the time to publish.

"Business managers and users want intuitive interfaces that enable them to easily contribute and review content using familiar tools such as Microsoft Word, email, or browsers. Similarly, IT professionals need software tools that can be easily rolled-out and maintained with minimal training and support," said Rob Lancaster, senior analyst at the Yankee Group. "Using features like Interwoven's new Business Productivity Suite, companies can streamline business processes and speed the delivery of content to the portal, Web, or other eBusiness initiatives."

What Customers are Saying about Interwoven Usability:
Interwoven's usability already translates into $300,000 a year ROI at Toshiba American Business Solutions (TABS). TABS is using Interwoven to manage all enterprise content, including thousands of office documents, on three of their online properties.

"Publishing office documents, which is 95% of our enterprise content, is critical for TABS," said Denise Fishel, director, eBusiness Planning and Development, eBusiness Technology Group at Toshiba America Business Solutions. "Because Interwoven's system has been so easy to use and administer, we have, for example, been able to turn the development of a new product page from a one week project to a one day project."

Previous to the Interwoven implementation, TABS' knowledge workers stored and maintained all documents on their local drive and then sent site change requests to a third party vendor who would create new Web pages as needed. "Because Interwoven lets users easily create and publish directly, we are saving $300K a year in outsourced development and content management expenses."

The German subsidiary of BP, Deutsche BP uses Interwoven ECM because it enables content contribution by non-technical employees regardless of language.

"As a global company, we have planned to extend our contributor base to multiple locations in multiple regions," said Annette Hundt, new media coordinator for Deutsche BP. "TeamSite 5.5's support of direct and easy contribution by German speakers will greatly accelerate our plans to include more people in the process."
