Customers Improve Data Center Efficiency, Streamline Operating Costs and Cost-Effectively Integrate with Enterprise Applications on the Interwoven 5 Platform

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. - GearUp Conference - October 29, 2002 - Interwoven, Inc. (Nasdaq: IWOV), a world leader in Enterprise Content Management (ECM), today announced that the Interwoven 5 platform offers businesses a superior total cost of ownership (TCO) by improving data center efficiency, streamlining operational costs and providing a cost-effective integration framework with enterprise applications. Interwoven has also worked closely with platform vendors to benchmark and optimize the Interwoven 5 platform to ensure the lowest total cost of ownership.

"The mantra of doing more with less has refocused organizations' energies on

lowering total cost of ownership for their business solutions, which include software, hardware and human resources," said Deborah Conrad, Vice President & General Manager of Intel's Solutions Market Development Group. "Interwoven and Intel have collaborated to improve data center efficiency and streamline operating costs, ultimately delivering lower TCO for our enterprise customers."

Interwoven's award-winning ECM platform was designed to deliver the lowest TCO by eliminating the often unanticipated software, hardware, and human resource costs associated with other systems. Many organizations that purchased other content management systems later realized that these solutions could only address their immediate needs. However, in order to scale, they would face significant incremental costs in hardware and software. Interwoven customers such as Tesco UK have easily scaled to multiple initiatives in parallel and integrated Interwoven 5 with several different applications without any significant incremental costs in hardware and software.

"As the UK's largest retailer and e-tailer, Tesco's success lies in delivering timely content updates, while rolling out specialized online warehouses," said Leon Stoner, Web master at Tesco. "We have been able to rollout over 10 separate online warehouses with Interwoven 5 platform saving nearly 80% in costs through increased operational efficiency and reduced content maintenance."

Interwoven drives down TCO by:

- Improving data center efficiency: Interwoven customers have realized immediate cost reductions by consolidating the number of content servers needed while also significantly improving performance throughput.

- Streamlining operational costs: Customers have slashed content development and deployment time with Interwoven 5, using out-of-the-box workflows and templates, managing multiple initiatives in parallel and securely automating global content distribution.

- Cost-effective integrations with applications: Interwoven uses open standards to integrate with all enterprise applications including portals and CRM - therefore customers can implement Interwoven-based solutions is less time with fewer people.

"The more rigorously customers are tracking the lifecycle cost of owning an enterprise content management system, the more they are discovering that it costs less to own Interwoven-based solutions than other systems," said Jack Jia, Chief Technology Officer of Interwoven.
