100th Customer Milestone Surpassed in the Fastest-Growing Region Worldwide
SUNNYVALE, Calif., - November 18, 2002 - Interwoven, Inc, (Nasdaq: IWOV), a
world leader in Enterprise Content Management (ECM), today announced that leading
Asian companies and government organizations continue to view ECM as a mission-critical
software requirement that provides the productivity essential to help their
businesses move ahead in the present challenging economic climate. As evidence
of this, Interwoven's Asia Pacific operations have been growing at a healthy
50% since 2000, and more than doubled new software license revenues in Q3 2002
over the same quarter in 2001. Interwoven's presence to date includes direct
operations in seven markets across Asia Pacific: Hong Kong, China, Taiwan, Korea,
Australia, Japan, and in Singapore, its regional headquarters.
"Leading organizations across Asia Pacific are demonstrating a healthy
appetite for investing in ECM solutions," said Thor Culverhouse, senior
vice president of worldwide sales for Interwoven. "In a tough economic
environment, businesses are turning to Interwoven enterprise content management
to leverage their existing IT investments, to increase the productivity of their
employees, and to reach out to new customers at a lower cost."
Customer Momentum in 2002
During the summer of 2002, Interwoven celebrated a key milestone of achieving
its 100th customer in the Asia Pacific region with the addition of Singapore's
Ministry of Education. Other world-leading enterprises that have chosen to build
their business strategies on Interwoven ECM solutions this year included Samsung
Electronics and Hyundai Motors in Korea, Sharp and Yamaha in Japan, Shanghai
Stock Exchange in China, Cathay Life Insurance in Taiwan, StarHub in Singapore,
and University of New South Wales in Australia.
"Interwoven has one of the best ECM solutions on the market today, and
our close partnership will help us realize significant gains in achieving consistent
practices for quality enterprise content management," said Professor Lawrence
Wong, director of the Computer Centre, National University of Singapore, a top-tier
educational institution in the Asia Pacific region. "Interwoven allows
all contributors to collaborate on and create various types of content and publish
critical information quickly and more efficiently."
Interwoven Operations Gather Increasing Support Across Asia
Interwoven continues to demonstrate its commitment to Asia Pacific by investing
in resources, product localization, and strengthening local alliances with leading
systems integrators across Asia.
"We have invested significantly in strengthening our ability to support
our customers and partners in Asia," said Anurag Srivastava, vice president
for Interwoven, Asia Pacific. "Availability of our solutions in local languages
is a reflection of our long-term commitment to our customers and to the market."
Interwoven TeamSite software, the flagship, fifth-generation content management
product within Interwoven's ECM platform, is now available to content contributors
in Japanese, Korean, and simplified Chinese languages.
"As we approach 2003, more of our customers are attesting to how ECM is
becoming a vital component in the centralized IT infrastructure that enables
them to achieve critical business objectives," concluded Srivastava. "Initiatives
like knowledge management, eGovernment, eLearning, enriched CRM, and collaboration
require a robust content management foundation, and Interwoven solutions are
a core element of the IT infrastructure because of their openness, scalability,
ease of use and deployment capabilities."
The Interwoven alliance and partner programs continue to gain momentum with
more systems integrators offering a wider range of solutions and services using
the Interwoven TeamSite platform. Its current network of partners in Asia includes
leading companies like CTC, IBM, NEC, Accenture, Samsung Data Systems, Satyam
Computer Services, Wipro, and IT Plus, to name a few.
"In the CRM, EIP and EC arenas, controlled management of enormous amounts
and types of content is absolutely essential. To accomplish this, a comprehensive
enterprise content management solution is required - and NEC chose Interwoven
to underpin this critical eBusiness component," said Nobuo Hanada, general
manager, Front Office Systems Division, NEC Solutions at NEC Corporation. "By
integrating Interwoven's market-leading products into our solutions, together
we can provide real, bottom-line business benefits to our customers. And with
the release of the Japanese version of TeamSite, Interwoven's position in Japan's
enterprise content management market will be greatly enhanced."
