Proven Solution Leverages Low-Cost Operating System, Supports Growing Adoption of Linux

SUNNYVALE, Calif. - July 21, 2003 - Interwoven, Inc. (Nasdaq: IWOV), a world-leading provider of content management for the enterprise, today announced that it is providing a Linux-based solution that dramatically reduces the total cost of hardware and software ownership for the growing number of enterprises running Linux in their IT environment. Global 2000 Companies have pervasively deployed Interwoven's leading content management platform over the last several years, and many are now embracing Linux as a server operating system to reduce the cost of their computing environments. Interwoven provides a platform-independent solution for managing and distributing code, content, and applications to any number of distributed production servers running Linux or other leading operating systems in a secure and cost-effective manner - ultimately providing maximum flexibility and reliability for their IT infrastructure.

"Driving down the Total Cost of Ownership of increasingly complex application environments continues to be a top initiative in the Global 1000," said Frank Fanzilli, industry veteran and former Managing Director and CIO at Credit Suisse First Boston. "The Interwoven Linux Solution allows enterprises to simplify their application environments, accelerate their adoption of Linux, and ultimately reduce TCO."

In a typical content management implementation, the greatest expense is most often attributed to the administration and maintenance of the large number of servers running in production. The Interwoven Linux Solution directly addresses these expensive production servers that reside just outside the corporate firewall or in distributed server farms. Customers that implement the Linux-based content management solution from Interwoven can reduce server management costs 30-80% while increasing server reliability. Industry research indicates that the average cost of managing Linux servers is 30% less than Window-based servers, and up to 80% less than proprietary RISC/UNIX servers. "The compelling price performance and flexibility offered by the Linux platform has made it the new platform of choice for the deployment of both content and applications," said Evan Bauer, principal research fellow of the Robert Frances Group. "Interwoven OpenDeploy's intelligent, platform agnostic, content and application distribution capabilities fully integrates Linux-based servers into Interwoven's enterprise content management capabilities." Bauer focuses on enterprise technology strategy for Robert Frances Group's Global 1000 clients.

Industry and customer research has shown that Web and application servers are the first to embrace the Linux platform. Interwoven offers a solution that utilizes its flagship content management product, Interwoven TeamSite Content Server software, combined with Interwoven OpenDeploy Content Distribution software, to enable companies to distribute code, content, and applications to any production server running Linux.

"In an era of trying to do more with less, Interwoven continues to listen to customers to better understand how our technology can be leveraged to decrease costs and increase efficiencies across the enterprise," said Martin Brauns, chairman and CEO of Interwoven. "Featuring the unique capabilities of OpenDeploy, this solution actually accelerates Linux adoption in distributed application environments by standardizing the way code and content is assembled, synchronized, and securely distributed from any repository to any network touch-point running Linux. Ultimately, this powerful software-hardware combination leads to a lower total cost of ownership for companies planning to roll out content management company-wide." Interwoven, Inc. is a world-leading provider of content management software for the enterprise. Allied with the leading enterprise application providers, the Interwoven 6 platform provides content management for more than 1200 organizations world wide including Air France, Cisco Systems, General Electric, General Motors, and Yamaha.
