New Offering Supports Regulatory Compliance Requirements, Helps Reduce IT Costs, and Speeds Application Time-to-Market within Increasingly Complex Web Application Environments
SUNNYVALE, Calif. -December 8, 2003- Interwoven, Inc., (Nasdaq: IWOV), the world's next-generation enterprise content management (ECM) company, today announced the availability of the Interwoven Web Change Management Solution. The solution is the first to address the unique change requirements of Web applications faced by IT departments today by standardizing the way an organization's code and content changes are aggregated, synchronized, and deployed throughout development, testing, staging, and production environments. While the solution delivers full reporting and version control capabilities required for regulatory compliance, it also speeds application time-to-market and significantly reduces IT costs by automating inefficient, manual change management processes.
According to analyst Ron Exler of the Robert Frances Group, "Web change management is an emerging and increasingly important requirement in enterprise IT. A tsunami of transformation is cascading upon the enterprise change management landscape. Formerly separate disciplines of application provisioning, asset management, document management, services management, software configuration management, and Web content management are converging, and wreaking havoc on those responsible for enterprise change management. Enterprises overwhelmed with change requests and regulatory pressures see potential refuge in consolidation of solutions. However, the process of developing and deploying applications for the Web introduces unique challenges and requirements that are not addressed by current disciplines." Interwoven Web Change Management - A Unique Approach
Traditional change management solutions were developed with a focus on mainframe or client-server application environments, but Interwoven leverages its Web expertise to uniquely focus on the complex change requirements within Web application environments. Additionally, Interwoven uniquely provides a comprehensive, open solution that aggregates any application asset from any development environment and deploys to any network destination. Existing tools offer limited change and deployment functionality: only aggregating and distributing changes to proprietary development and production destinations. Finally, change management solutions on the market today focus on changes within application development environments or within IT, but only Interwoven provides change management capabilities across these two environments, enterprise-wide.
"Implementing a Web change management solution provides IT organizations with a centralized, standardized system to control costs and change within Web application environments," said Brian Bauer, vice president, IT Solutions at Interwoven. "With this new solution, our customers ensure application accuracy and integrity, while reducing costs, meeting compliance mandates, and speeding application time-to-market."
Components of the Interwoven Web Change Management Solution
- Interwoven OpenDeploy Distribution Server software. Ensures transactional, scheduled, source-agnostic aggregation and deployment that give customers a unified, predictable standard that can be used enterprise-wide. OpenDeploy replaces redundant, labor-intensive manual deployment processes.
- Interwoven Control Hub Server software. Delivers a platform on which organizations can aggregate and coordinate change sets. Based on Interwoven TeamSite Content Server software technology, ControlHub acts as a "traffic hub" for application code and configurations, file and database content that flow across a content-rich enterprise. Version control features provide a historical snapshot of application states while workflow features streamline the change process.
- Interwoven Trusted Advisory Practice. A detailed assessment of existing Web change processes is available through Interwoven Consulting Services. This assessment will:
1. Identify and document current processes for deploying code and content;
2. Provide code and content deployment requirements analysis;
3. Identify code and content "paths" from creation through to production environments;
4. Assist in identifying code and content synchronization objectives;
5. Assist in defining change management and configuration parameters.
Ron Exler concludes, "IT executives should evaluate the unique requirements for managing change across distributed Web application environments, and consider implementing procedures and tools specifically for Web change management."
