Integration with Legacy ERP Application Enabled by Report Manager for WorkSite

SUNNYVALE, Calif. -December 11, 2003- Interwoven, Inc. (Nasdaq: IWOV), the world's next-generation enterprise content management (ECM) company, today announced that California-based Cupertino Electric, Inc. (CEI), a leading provider of sophisticated electrical infrastructure solutions and the largest privately held electrical contractor in the United States, is using Interwoven Report Manager for WorkSite software to integrate a legacy enterprise resource planning (ERP) application with Interwoven WorkSite. Report Manager for WorkSite is an extension of CEI's current WorkSite implementation and brings fully integrated enterprise report management (ERM) functionality to the WorkSite product line.

CEI implemented WorkSite at the end of 2002 to minimize its reliance on paper documents, improve workflow, and continue to ensure full International Organization for Standardization (ISO) compliance. As part of this transition, the company needed to integrate its legacy, internally developed ERP application with the WorkSite solution. The ERP system plays a central role in CEI's business, which processes and produces a large amount of transactional information such as accounts payable and receivable documents. In the past, documents such as invoices, forms, and copies of checks were output in printed form for use in daily workflow, and then stored in file cabinets. By importing this output into the WorkSite system, CEI gains the ability to route documents electronically for approval rather than circulating printed versions, a process that often delayed distributing invoices for weeks.

"We purchased the WorkSite product last fall to get our content under control," said Brent Jenkins, assistant IT director, CEI. "Now, Report Manager for WorkSite lets us take the next step and integrate all the structured content from our legacy system into the same environment. This is a simple, elegant, powerful program that will make a significant impact on our efficiency and cash flow."

To accomplish the integration, CEI purchased Report Manager for WorkSite to support project management. The standards-based product interoperates seamlessly with any legacy system to add fully integrated enterprise report management functionality to the WorkSite product line. Report Manager for WorkSite converts transactional data from the ERP system into PDF format as it is produced. Templates for billing invoices, payroll checks, credit memos, and external customer forms can be set up in less than 30 minutes each, then automatically populated with data from the ERP feed with no further user intervention. The process includes the automatic extraction of profile information so that documents can be made searchable via the WorkSite database; assigned appropriate security and access rights; and stored in the correct virtual folder alongside other project content such as correspondence, e-mail, spreadsheets, scanned images, and change orders.

With Report Manager for WorkSite in place, ERP documents can now be accessed online from any location-an especially important benefit for CEI personnel in geographically dispersed job sites, who in the past had to phone the office and request forms to be faxed or shipped overnight. Customers and CEI project managers can view complex invoices together and resolve any questions in real time, rather than corresponding via mail. By decreasing the time required to finalize billing information, CEI has shortened its time to revenue significantly. The company plans to take advantage of the system's flexibility to deploy a new ERP system to replace the legacy application. The ability of Report Manager for WorkSite to work equally well with the new system will reduce deployment costs and ensure a smooth migration path.

"Report Manager for WorkSite is an open, flexible product designed to work well with whatever investments our customers already have in place," said Kevin Hayden, vice president of corporate marketing for Interwoven. "By adding reports management functionality to the WorkSite product line, we can help companies extend the benefits of their Interwoven implementation to include broad new areas of operations."
