Interwoven WorkSite Brings Significant Productivity Increases to Leading UK Law Firm with Matter Centric Collaboration Solution
SUNNYVALE, Calif. -February 17, 2004- Interwoven Inc. (Nasdaq: IWOV), the world's next-generation enterprise content management (ECM) company, today announced that leading UK law firm Addleshaw Goddard has cut the time its lawyers spend searching, retrieving, and sharing documents as a result of implementing Interwoven WorkSite, the legal industry's leading solution for matter centric collaboration. Matter centric collaboration goes beyond traditional document management to provide an electronic equivalent to the physical matter file.
The investment is part of an overall firm strategy to improve operational efficiency, focusing on document storage and working practices. Using Interwoven WorkSite Server software, all correspondence and paperwork is now stored electronically in a central repository, making it easier and more cost-effective for lawyers to search, retrieve, and access documents.
The firm also used WorkSite as part of its own merger, finalized in May 2003, between Addleshaw Booth & Co. and Theodore Goddard. "Most firms are currently drowning in paper and e-mail. Managing this is not an effective way for lawyers or lawyers to spend their time," said Damian Griffiths, IT director at Addleshaw Goddard. "We needed a system to automate our document management processes and make a lawyer's day-to-day work far more time and cost-effective. Without Interwoven WorkSite we could not have completed our own merger last year so swiftly or successfully. We were able to ensure all documents and data were available to our entire staff within days of the merger completion."
With over 500 lawyers located across the UK, Addleshaw Goddard was also looking for a solution that would enable geographically dispersed teams access to the same matter file irrespective of their location. Other important factors in the purchase decision were speed of implementation, ease of use, and tight integration with existing applications including Microsoft Office suite.
"We converted 1.6 million documents without any major hitches-which is no mean feat-and the support we received from Interwoven was key. We always knew Interwoven was right behind us if we needed advice or help," said Dan Simms, technical services manager at Addleshaw Goddard. "We were very impressed with the speed at which we were able to deploy the technology. One of our office systems was up and running in one day."
"We couldn't be happier with our relationship with Interwoven. This rollout was one of the smoothest I've seen in my career and the responsiveness and the openness of its staff is second to none. We needed a tailored and customized system and that's what was delivered," Griffiths concluded.
"Our commitment to customer service and ongoing product innovation are key priorities within Interwoven," said Chris Junker, vice president for worldwide legal sales, Interwoven. "We are delighted to demonstrate once again we have delivered on our promises and continue to be a formidable player in the global legal markets."
In the future, Addleshaw Goddard plans to integrate more of the Interwoven product suite and roll out both content management and portal capabilities.
