Distinguished Panel of Judges Impressed by ROI, Commends the Companies for Demonstrating "Powerful Content Management and Collaboration Facilities"

SUNNYVALE, Calif. - March 22, 2004 - Interwoven Inc. (Nasdaq: IWOV), the world's next-generation enterprise content management (ECM) company, today announced that Interwoven and its customer the American Hospital Association (AHA) have won an award that demonstrated "powerful content management and collaboration facilities." Interwoven was one of four companies honored last week at the DCI Portals, Collaboration and Content Management Conference in San Francisco. The awards were co-sponsored by DCI and by DM Review magazine.

AHA has developed a portal called "HospitalConnectTM" (http://www.hospitalconnect.com/) that provides centralized infrastructure for the 50 Websites owned by AHA and its 21 affiliates. The core infrastructure of the portal consists of the Interwoven content management system, Verity Search Engine, Oracle database, and the Sun Solaris operating system and Web server. The portal boasts 35,000 pieces of content, an average of 200,000 unique visitors and 525,000 page views per month, and had an average uptime of 99.94% in 2003.

"The ROI of this exciting project definitely caught the judge's attention," said Barbara Gavin, DCI's program manager. "All of us here at DCI were very impressed with the Interwoven effort at the American Hospital Association."

HospitalConnect has minimized maintenance costs associated with separate sites within its platform. It has streamlined access to information-enabling visitors to find information in seconds, as opposed to hours. Better management of content has also opened new opportunities. AHA recently had its biggest year in online store sales, which represents growth of 20% versus a year ago, and 75 % versus two years ago.

"The success of HospitalConnect hinged on a common content management platform that was powerful enough to handle hundreds of simultaneous contributors, and flexible enough to meet our unique needs," said Herman Baumann, executive director for strategic development at the American Hospital Association. "Interwoven's TeamSite enabled us to achieve our goals of efficient content management and providing better service to our members. As important, TeamSite's highly configurable capabilities ensure that it will continue to be an effective tool as our needs evolve."

An important component of the Interwoven content management platform is its unique patented parallel development and branching technology. Using this technology, hundreds of contributors can work individually or as teams to create, preview, and publish site content in their own work areas without interfering with content that has been created by others.

"This award is a testament to what's possible when a strategic vision meets the world's best-integrated platform for content management and collaboration," said Kevin Hayden, vice president of corporate marketing for Interwoven. "We commend AHA on its success, and are honored that Interwoven technology plays a key role in the success of their portal, both now and in the future."
