Underscores Interwoven's Successful Focus on Delivering Highly-Targeted WCM Solutions to Leading Retailers for Improved Customer Experience and Competitive Differentiation

SUNNYVALE, Calif. - August 31, 2005 - Interwoven, Inc. (Nasdaq: IWOV), provider of Enterprise Content Management (ECM) solutions for business, today announced that it has been ranked as a leader by Forrester Research in its 2005 WCM Retail Wave report, "The Forrester Wave: Web Content Management for Retail, Q3 2005." Interwoven's ranking as a WCM Retail leader follows on the heels of the company's recent ranking by Forrester as an overall WCM leader across industries in its April 2005 report, "The Forrester Wave: Web Content Management, Q1 2005." The latest Forrester report is further support that Interwoven continues to be a leading choice for companies in key vertical markets, such as retail, who are looking for a robust WCM solution to meet the needs of all their Web initiatives.

With leading retail customers including Chrysler, Staples, IKEA, and TESCO, Interwoven's proven focus and momentum in the retail industry are recognized by Forrester in the report. Interwoven's strong WCM capabilities in support of both external and internal site initiatives are also highlighted as a key differentiator, enabling customers to improve the online experience for consumers as well as increase competitive differentiation. Interwoven's TeamSite Web Content Management and LiveSite Web Content Publishing products were evaluated.

"As Chrysler's Internet marketing and advertising continues to expand, Web Content Management represents a key piece of infrastructure and a solution to many of our most pressing business needs," said Mike Morton, senior manager, Interactive Communications, Chrysler. "Interwoven has been the right solution for the right job."

According to the WCM Retail Wave report authored by Forrester analyst Tamara Mendelsohn: "As online retail competition grows fierce, online sellers look for ways to differentiate their sites and build unique experiences for their consumers. Many retailers now put a renewed focus on content to provide information to buyers - reviving the initial promise of the Web to combine content and commerce." And, as these retailers seek to "create, manage, control, and even deliver the dizzying array of content that explodes out of these initiatives, [they] must look to WCM tools to bring some order to the chaos."

Ranked as a WCM leader, Interwoven is well positioned to help retailers address this challenge. According to the report, "Interwoven's strengths in the management of content and code, multistage deployment, publishing administration, taxonomy management and discovery, and multisite management are now complemented with improved ease of use for site managers and power users with the recent introduction of LiveSite to address site definition, presentation management, and content targeting. Interwoven not only has a large WCM installed base, but it is also an ECM suite vendor, which makes it a good fit for retailers looking to centralize multichannel content." Additionally, Forrester recognizes Interwoven in the report for the company's digital asset management (DAM) product, MediaBin, and scalability, which also "make [Interwoven] a good choice for retailers that are pushing content to multiple channels and need to manage digital asset transformation."

Vendors were evaluated by Forrester against approximately 200 criteria, which were grouped into three high-level areas including: current offering, strategy, and market presence. Interwoven was selected as a leader based on its proven success in each of these three areas.

"Interwoven continues to raise the bar by bringing to market highly-targeted best-in-class solutions to help companies within key vertical industries effectively tackle their content management challenges," said Kevin Hayden, vice president of corporate marketing at Interwoven. "We're thrilled to again receive such affirmation from Forrester that our Web Content Management solutions not only lead the pack across industries, but that they are also enabling major retailers to increase their competitive edge, while significantly improving their customers' online retail experience."
