Interwoven Named 'Top Pacesetter' for Marketing Performance, Achieving the Highest Degree of Marketing Effectiveness within the ECM Industry

ECM Solutions Provider Outperforms Seven Vendors to Earn the Highest Ranking in Most Recent 'Marketing Momentum Index' Report by Market Bearing

SUNNYVALE, Calif. - October 31, 2005 - Interwoven, Inc. (Nasdaq: IWOV), provider of Enterprise Content Management (ECM) solutions for business, today announced that it has earned the 'top pacesetter' ranking for marketing performance in the most recent quarterly Marketing Momentum Index (MMI) report on the ECM industry by independent research firm Market Bearing LLC. Interwoven outranked seven other ECM vendors by achieving the greatest amount of external marketing validation and success during the second quarter of 2005 in four key areas: alliances, customer commitment, technology research, and press coverage.

This latest accolade adds to Interwoven's strong continued momentum of receiving widespread recognition from top industry analysts, publications, and award associations, as well as its commitment to partnering with other technology leaders. The most recent ECM MMI report rankings were determined based on proprietary algorithms designed to accurately measure the external commitment to a vendor's brand, and did not involve vendor input.

"Receiving such recognition from an un-biased and independent research firm is strong validation of our commitment to delivering best-in-class solutions and products, successful partnership strategy, and focus on enabling customers to rapidly achieve true and measurable ROI," said Kevin Hayden, vice president of corporate marketing, Interwoven. "Our leadership position in the recent Marketing Momentum Index is proof of the increased level of commitment, in both time and resources, that our customers have for the Interwoven brand."

About the Marketing Momentum Index
The Marketing Momentum Index is the only independent ranking of competitive marketing performance. The MMI is a quarterly measurement of outside commitment to a company's brand, enabling management and financial analysts to make smarter investment decisions. Proprietary algorithms are applied to each area and the composite MMI scores are relative to each sector. As a competitive quarterly measurement, MMI scores are only comparable within their sector and do not cross sectors. The Marketing Momentum Index focuses on pure play and mid-tier technology providers. Mega-vendors who are also dominant in the sector are not included in the reports as their brand equity has an umbrella effect over many sectors.
