Interwoven Appoints Bill Seawick to Newly-Created Position of Chief Marketing Officer
Seawick to Spearhead Interwoven's Global Marketing Initiatives, Bringing Over 20 Years of Experience from Technology Leaders Including Oracle, Sun Microsystems, Apple, TRADOS, and Blue Pumpkin
SUNNYVALE, Calif. – December 13, 2005 – Interwoven, Inc. (Nasdaq: IWOV), provider of Enterprise Content Management (ECM) solutions for business, today announced the appointment of Bill Seawick to the Interwoven executive management team as the company’s senior vice president and chief marketing officer. A seasoned marketing executive, Seawick has over 20 years of experience with leading technology companies including Oracle, Sun Microsystems, Apple, TRADOS, Blue Pumpkin, Blaze Software, and others. Seawick will play an instrumental role in helping Interwoven continue to strengthen its position as a leading provider of content-centric ECM solutions by: defining and ensuring the execution of the company’s strategic solution and product marketing initiatives; increasing global industry awareness of Interwoven ECM solutions; and extending Interwoven’s reach into new and growing markets.
Seawick joins Interwoven from TRADOS where he served as the company’s chief marketing officer. While at TRADOS, Seawick led the repositioning of TRADOS from a language technology company to the leader in Global Information Management – the process of delivering content to international markets – and with CXO-level marketing and sales initiatives, improved financial results by thirty percent in the second half of 2004 and in 2005. Prior to TRADOS, Seawick was the executive vice president and chief marketing officer at Blue Pumpkin where he successfully re-branded and transformed the company from a single product call center vendor to an enterprise solutions provider, resulting in the capture of broader markets and accelerated revenue growth. As vice president of marketing at Blaze Software, Seawick led critical initiatives that helped the company triple its revenue growth, successfully complete an IPO, and achieve a premium acquisition price of $580 million.
As senior director of marketing for Oracle, Seawick architected and managed global marketing for the company's $450 million education and training business, including leading strategy development and marketing implementation for Oracle's Learning Architecture, the industry’s first product and service for delivering online education. At Sun, he held executive positions managing marketing and alliances for three start-up lines of businesses: pioneering the commercial market segment focus as the company moved from a technical workstation vendor to an enterprise solution provider, building a system integration division; and managing business development for Internet products including Java. While at Apple, Seawick was a founding member of the company's Strategic Investment Group, and played a key role in the formation and management of strategic alliances.
As an established ECM solutions leader, Interwoven is in a key position to continue capitalizing on the growing adoption of ECM solutions by companies across vertical industries—a position that will be further strengthened by the addition of Seawick to Interwoven’s executive management team. According to industry analyst firm Forrester Research, the market for ECM technology is outpacing the overall software market with a forecasted 19 percent compound annual growth rate . And, according to Gartner, another leading industry analyst firm, Interwoven is well positioned to benefit from this growth through its strong solutions focus: rather than “simply producing a horizontal content management platform, Interwoven is providing content solutions that will leverage vertical domain expertise and process management capabilities.”
“As Interwoven continues to lead the market through the delivery of targeted ECM solutions, it is extremely valuable to have someone with Bill’s impressive experience join the Interwoven management team to spearhead our global marketing efforts and solutions focus,” said Martin Brauns, chairman and CEO of Interwoven. “Bill is an exceptional leader with the management experience, proven focus on results, and excellent reputation who will drive our marketing efforts to the new level of success we’re looking to achieve.”
“As the amount of content businesses develop and reuse continues to grow exponentially, addressing business challenges through the management of unstructured content is a huge opportunity,” said Seawick. “For example, global companies are increasingly turning their focus back to growing the top line, such as deepening relationships with customers. As a result, the creation and delivery of customer-centric solutions is an exploding market, and it’s clear that Interwoven has taken the lead with its focus on providing solutions to help companies improve their customer experience.”
